The decision is posted on the official blog of Google, and is the result of "spring cleaning" which in April announced the company's co-founder Larry Page. Changes are made at a time when the company faces more competition in the field of computer technology for mobile phones and online social networks. Some investors are revolted by increasing the operating costs of the world's largest Internet search company.
Google believes that other institutions are in a better position to advance efforts to produce cheaper renewable energy. The company began to invest in this area and research in 2007, focusing on technologies for utilization of solar energy. Former head of green technology Bill Wiley in 2009 said that Google will soon be able to produce renewable energy that will be cheaper than coal.
- For three years we will have such power that will produce megawatts, it said Wiley.
Google spokesman said Wiley left the company earlier this month. Technology giant said in a blog will continue to make efforts to produce "cleaner and more efficient energy," including renewable energy for their centers with databases
